Paying Doli

Fever with chill and rigor in olden time people acquired when they visited lower altitude regions in summer season. This PAYING named is derived from one river on western side of Apatani pleateau flowing between boundary of Apatani and Nyishi at lower altitude than pleateau in direction north to south flowing out near Talo Village. People used to commonly visited neighbour Nyishi villages via crossing that PAYING river through LYANCHA(Lyancha refers to Licha clan of Nyishi) PUDU and get this fever. Perhap this was malarial fever as sign and symptoms described and acquired after visiting to lower altitude. Because malaria does not present at altitude higher than 1500 mitres from sea level. Malaria presently prevalent at Ziro are not endemic. Peoples get infected whenever they visited lower altitude area like Itanagar, Daporijo etc.
